Alrighty, I'm here at Wizards of the Coast an hour early, just in case there were any transportation mishaps. LOL! I'm like a ten minute walk from Ikea, haha XD Soooo, I'm going to study as much as I can for the next hour, meet with the recruiter that's handling my potential contract, and then meeting with Alexis and maybe one other person. Interview will take about 90 minutes, then it's back up to Seattle, calling everyone along the way, going to Berserk Games, going to Liz's parents' place, then to Jason's (mmmmm, enchiladas!!!!), and then I'll probably crash. Or play WoW. ^^; OMG OMG OMG =D |

Okay, awesome, I actually have something that'll allow me to write, build, and run C++ programs again, and it isn't cygwin! XD;;; (Cygwin isn't bad, I'm just tired of fucking around with it, there had to be a better way. Microsoft's Visual Studio 2008 Express is getting the job done quite nicely, thank god. XD) This was kindof one of those hurdles I wasn't even wanting to confront. It is so blatantly easy to set up any computer to facilitate development in Java that I'm kind of spoiled. :P Soooooo, yep, lots of practice, practice, practice to come! :S Man, being this close to something so awesome is... is it weird to say it's numbing? It's not even hitting me. |

Lmfao, oh goody, 70 minutes on the bus. XD;;; Also, with all the remodeling Safeway is doing, I actually can't access more than half of the store right now. God -damn-. x_x; I picked up a big 16oz sugar-free Red Bull and am going to try to cram as much C++ as I can into the next 24 hours. |

WTF. Qdoba makes a much better burrito than the nearby Chipotle, but now I have to wait because they didn't have any ground beef ready. Fuck it, I'll get a sub. (*edit* Correct choice. They have cookies for 25 cents at the Subway on 45th today, and I treated myself to one and it made everything better. Also, a spicy italian is mmm-mmm good eatin' pretty much every day :P Now I'm watching this: http://www.hulu.com/watch/22713/one-funny-hick-spanic I find him funny, but I also think he's hot, so I'm biased. :P */edit*) |

Just got a call. Sounds like in spite of my answers... they want me for a second interview! Whew? ^^; Gotta call back and schedule something, but didn't want the "just woke up" sound to my voice. :P Gonna try to do something on Wednesday morning. They want me in tomorrow, but I know with my sleep schedule I would be better with a bit more room to knock out a reasonable amount of sleep beforehand, and have time to get down there. Soooo, we shall see. Michael, one of the recruiters I'm working with, is figuring out the details right now. Hopefully soon so I can get a -little- more rest :P The great news even though my C++ knowledge is shaky is that I'm the ONLY person of those in the referral system that they're still considering! So if I can really impress them on Wednesday, I might have it! And knowing this, I want to be at my best, since I'm only competing with myself now! At least, from what I know. :P (And I need to do laundry!!!) |

Victoria is ten kinds of hot. She loaned me Marty Stepp's web programming book, Josh Bloch's "Effective Java", and C++ for Java Programmers. I have something to do for a little bit now! I'm excited ^^;;;; |

Holy shit the newest Dollhouse has definitely got that fucked-up horror vibe going on. (Mostly notably with the Japanese dude.) Not the kind of thing I seek out to watch :S However, the vindication from knowing that my favorite character is a mastermind for the good guys of her own sorts definitely made the whole thing worthwhile =D So, you know, it's recommended. :) Gotta make a couple more job contacts this week for unemployment... trying to debate whether I do that now, or hunt it all down after some sleep... *edit* Oh, good news to know for people who might want to watch Buffy on Hulu: First season is and has been available, and they're going to make second season available on January 1st, and then third season on April 1st. So, cool, right? XD */edit* |

It is incredibly soothing as of late to have Futurama running in the background so that I have some noise, some voices to listen to. I really need to rip the episodes so I can have a random Futurama playlist, since it'd be nice to be surprised and not have to filter through 15 DVDs trying to find an episodes I feel like watching. XD; Blaaaaagh. :S |

Looking at my calendar, I haven't worked out in two whole weeks now. It's frustrating... I got knocked off of my routine and I stayed off. :( Maybe if I go to bed soon I can go to the gym today. :S |

Oh god I am so embarrassed with my answer to that OO design problem ._.; I'm starting to realize exactly how hard I have to work this chance, and how hard I am going to have to work in general, because if I don't take this opportunity I think things are going to go severely downhill. I know what I don't want to end up as, and it's a slippery goddamn slope. :S One of my big difficulties is that unlike a lot of people who pick up computer science and look for problems to solve, however esoteric, problems have to find ME before I feel compelled to solve them, in spite of my aptitude for problem-solving. I really don't like looking for things to make life harder. In short, I am lazy. And that doesn't mesh well with success, and not so well with life, either. I'm debating whether or not Chapel tomorrow night is a good idea. I really don't think I need to be drinking any more right now. :S But what to do instead? Try and study more C++/C# so I don't suck as much, probably :P Current Music: Ami Suzuki - One |

They asked a programming question and a design question. No problem on the programming question, the design question, though? LOL, I wasn't sure how much depth they were wanting, so I just tried to do what I could do in two hours, and submitted that design, even pointing out that I know there are flaws in it. I think they'd rather have someone critical of their work and looking for more ways to break it than someone going "It's perfect." :P Soooo... we'll see! :S GOD DAMMIT, why is there no TV on? :( |

OKAY. SOOOOOO, the interview went basically as I expected. My knowledge of MTG rules was enough that they had to ask me if I had the comprehensive rules in front of me (No, I just memorized layers [Copy, control, text, type, color, ability, power/toughness{characteristic-setting, specific values, increase/decrease, counters, switching}] because it was like, that one thing that Jason had a notecard for that he'd use so I thought I'd fill my niche. And of course, I studied the comprehensive rules a bit before the interview so that I'd have things in the right order. They asked me about Mirrorweave and Treetop Village which I stumbled over a bit before being able to express the correct subtypes(I actually didn't know that "It's still a land" means "This card doesn't lose any of its previous types", if I had been thinking about it correctly I would've answered it wrong, and then they asked me if I might know a way to Mind Control a creature with shroud. [My answer, having mentioned Humility + Opalescence, was to use Humility to wipe shroud off of the creature, mind control it, and then you could destroy Humility.]) even though I still have my areas that I need to work on, but my programming knowledge is sort of iffy. So they're actually e-mailing me a couple programming problems to solve, and it sounds like they'll let me solve them in Java (THANK GOD, it's the only thing I can develop on on my current system. :S) and... hopefully they'll want me in for an interview. My C/C++/C# is so rusty :( So, oh man. Still so freaking nervous. |

Ugh. I had as much alcohol as Asa and Kitri(Five drinks), I drank it slower than they did, I had food and water before and during, and I'm 50% more massive than either of them. They're both fine, and I've thrown up THREE times tonight. Damn. O_o; Oh well, the more I know, right? Honestly, negative experience with alcohol is NOT a bad thing in the long run, I feel. :P Sucks right now though. Uuuuuuugh. |

This is a post because I haven't posted in a few days because I haven't had anything really to say to update on anything :P Things happened, they were good... lol. I'm really preoccupied with hoping to get an interview with Wizards of the Coast, and I'm spending a TON of time grinding emblems on Xira (I just side-graded my 232 gloves and shoulders over to the tier 9 pieces, giving me 5% more crit on my biggest damage-producing spells, so even though WoW-heroes might not appreciate the bonus and keep my gear score the same(Actually it's a step down until I gem and enchant the new pieces... X_X), this gear is MUCH better, especially because I was WAAAAAY over hit cap and the side-grade exchanged hit for further crit.) and... yeah, it's kinda cool to have a mage that's consistently doing 3000 DPS in heroics. ^^; So yep, I'm still alive, and hopefully I'll have some exciting things to post this week! :) Gonna get to bed now. :P |

O_o; Somehow Xira has ended up outgearing K'nolgra. I'm... rather surprised, given how much I've been working on K'nolgra and how little I've been able to use Xira. XD; But yay, some decent DPS! But damn, she needs more haste. :P |

The interview went really well! We're not sure if WIZARDS OF THE COAST will want to have me in for an interview with them because I have so little professional experience (and I had even admitted that I passed up internship opportunities because I was so passionate about my TA position), but I have a clear and apparent love for the game and strong understanding of how it works (but not competing, as working at WotC would make me ineligible for tournaments). I wish I had told the recruiter that I'm a "Johnny/Timmy", but I guess I can leave that as a tidbit if I get another interview. ^^; And if I do, I will probably READ THE COMPREHENSIVE RULES a few times, if anyone would like to help me "study", as there are lots of cards/combos that led to certain rules, and I'd like to have examples for these cases. Because my strength right now is that I have a fantastic foundation in MtG, which might make them willing to take me with my lesser experience. Yeeeeah. Um, gonna play some WoW and gonna get some more sleep. XD;;; |

LOL I HAVE AN INTERVIEW TOMORROW. IT IS ON THE FIFTEENTH FLOOR OF THE COMPLEX IT IS IN. EL OH EL OH EL. XD;;;; ( ephemeralcrisis, thank you for telling me about this job. We'll find out if they actually want to refer me to the company to be considered for the position, but it's wonderful to at least have a shot at it. ^__^) Watching House before going to bed. I actually recognized one of the actresses that is playing a nurse in there as Gabby from the Disney movie "Brink!" *roflmfao* XD; |
